Our mission is provide top quality instructional courses for people who desire to pursue a more self-reliant lifestyle; whether in the wilds or right at home. Course topics include wilderness and urban survival, fur trapping, bushcraft, primitive skills, long-term wilderness living. land navigation and GPS, home disaster preparation, outdoor cooking, food procurement and storage, foraging, wild edibles, and others.
What makes Ozark Mountain Preparedness different than other survival schools? Our instructors actually live the lifestyle they promote and teach; it's not just a hobby or fad. The knowledge they pass on to the students is based on real world experiences rather than mere theory. Our cadre of instructors has worked and lived in the Ozark Mountains, Desert Southwest, Rocky Mountain West, Alaska, Southeastern United States, the Adirondacks, and abroad. They are professional, friendly people who will go above and beyond to ensure the students understand the skills/concepts demonstrated. We also provide a safe training environment and all staff are trained to a minimum emergency medical standard of Advanced Wilderness First Aid.
The Ozark Mountain Preparedness basecamp is located in Berryville, Arkansas. We are situated about 20 minutes from Eureka Springs AR, 45 minutes from Branson MO, 1 1/2 hours from Springfield MO, and about an hour from Fayetteville AR. Our area of operations is nearly 30,000 acres of Ozark wilderness. The hardwood timbered hills, steep limestone bluffs, diverse flora and fauna, and plentiful waterways provide an ideal classroom that is abundant in resources all year long. The weather is generally mild with temps ranging from the mid-90's in the summer to low 20's in the winter. Although we are based in the Ozarks, we have extensive experience in others areas and can travel if need be!
We also offer custom courses! Onsite instruction is available anywhere in the United States. Ozark Mountain Preparedness does not offer any tactical training to the general public or train paramilitary/militia groups.
